Fertility Awareness Method

FERTILITY AWARENESS

Fertility awareness is being aware of your cycle and knowing your fertile and infertile phases of your menstrual cycle.

Fertility awareness has been around since the beginning of time, women were in~sync and aware of there cycles and they followed the moon, now days 80% of women cycle’s follow the moon cycles.

This awareness can then be used to avoid pregnancy or to achieve pregnancy and a great way to monitor hormone balance.

Every women’s cycle length is different, most follow the moon cycles., have you noticed if your cycle follows the moon cycle?

an average cycle length is 28 days, some women’s cycle is longer due to hormone imbalances.

In the average cycle a women would ovulate around day 14 but this can change due to environmental factors, travel and stress levels that month.

THE FERTILE WINDOW

We’re talking about the days in a woman’s menstrual cycle when pregnancy is possible. Pregnancy is technically only possible during the five days before ovulation through to the day of ovulation. These six days on average is the ‘fertile window’ in a woman’s cycle, and reflect the lifespan of sperm (5 days) and the lifespan of the ovum (24 hours).

If a woman has sex six or more days before she ovulates, the chance she will get pregnant is virtually zero. If she has sex five days before she ovulates, her probability of pregnancy is about 10%. The probability of pregnancy rises steadily until the two days before and including the day of ovulation. At the end of the ‘fertile window’, the probability of pregnancy declines rapidly and by 12-24 hours after she ovulates, a woman is no longer able to get pregnant during that cycle.

Learning Fertility awareness and to identify your fertile window

Systems of fertility awareness rely on observation of changes in one or more of the primary fertility signs (basal body temperature, cervical mucus, and cervical position), tracking menstrual cycle length and identifying the fertile window based on this information, or both. Other signs may also be observed: these include breast tenderness and ovulation pains.

To learn fertility awareness you need to

Download fertility charting app KindaraBuy a ovulation thermometer available at shakti holistic healing, chemist or better yet Wink digital thermometer.Diligently Take your temperature every morning at the same time before you get up, this is very necessary and the key to fertility awareness..Take note and chart any cervical fluid/ discharge you experience through the fertile phase (cervical fluid also known as discharge. Its job is to keep the sperm alive. A good rule, “if your wet, your fertile”.)Pay good attention to your body and its symptoms, note & chart any pains, moods & tenderness.

your temperature should be around 35-36 degrees most days, you will then notice cervical fluid mid- cycle (around day 14 ) the egg is then released and your temperature will rise to around 37 degrees, this spike shows the egg has been released.

To successful follow fertility awareness i suggest doing further study and if avoiding pregnancy using contraception until you can see a pattern and know your cycle this usually take 3-6 months, if a hormones imbalance is not present. This method of contraception is only usable if you are not on the pill as the pill masks these symptoms and fertility awareness cannot take place.
