A sacred guide to understanding your monthly bleed and supporting a pain-free, nourishing flow

Your menstrual blood is one of the most sacred tools of self-reflection available to you. Every month, your womb offers a direct report on your physical, emotional, and even spiritual wellbeing.ā ā The colour, flow, consistency, and length of your bleed give you insight into the health of your blood, lymphatic system, hormone balance, and level of nourishment. Even the mood swings or sensitivities of your premenstrual week offer a peek into your subconscious, pointing to areas of your life that need love, attention, or change.ā ā As women, we are deeply blessed to have this inner feedback loopāitās just that most of us were never taught how to interpret it. So letās change that.
š©øWhat Your Blood Is Telling You
Hereās a guide to the common signs your bleed may be offering, and what they reflect about your inner state:
š§ Light + Pink Flow (<3 days)
This often points to low nourishment and blood deficiency. If your body doesnāt have the building blocksāiron, minerals, fats, and warmthāit wonāt be able to create a rich, full-flow bleed.
Your womb is asking for:
Deep nourishment through warming, iron-rich foods
Blood-building herbs or supplements
More rest and warmth during your luteal phase
š· Dark, Thick, Clotted or Sticky Flow
This is a sign of stagnationāin your blood, lymphatic system, or energy flow. It often comes with cramping, moodiness, or a heavy feeling in the womb.
Your womb is asking for:
Movement, dance, breathwork, and dry brushing
Reduction of cold, damp or heavy foods (think excess dairy, sugar, or iced drinks)
Circulatory support from herbs or steaming
š„ Bright Red, Smooth, 3ā4 Days Flow
This is the ideal menstrual bleed: well-circulated, well-nourished, flowing with ease, No pain, no stagnation, no deficiencies. This is a sign of hormonal harmony and a balanced inner terrain.
Your womb is thanking you for:
Consistent nourishment and warmth
A balanced lifestyle
Emotional processing and space to feel
š PMS Is a Portal to Your Subconscious
The week before your bleed is a potent time. If you find yourself more emotional, reactive, or sensitiveāthatās not a problem. Itās your inner world asking to be heard.ā Unmet needs, repressed feelings, or unresolved tensions often rise to the surface during this time. Itās not a weaknessāitās a sacred signal.
Ask yourself:
What feels unexpressed or out of alignment in my life?
Where am I suppressing my truth?
What part of me is asking to be seen, healed, or changed?
Your womb is speaking. Will you listen?
šæ Sacred Practices to Support a Healthy Bleed
Pain, clots, or irregularity donāt have to be your ānormal.ā Below are two of my favourite ways to reconnect with the womb and support a clear, easeful, monthly flow.
⨠Yoni Steaming with Shakti Herbal Blends
A time-honoured practice of sitting over gently steaming herbs that cleanse, tone, and nourish the womb and vaginal canal.
Benefits include:
Eases cramps and stagnation
Softens the cervix and pelvic floor
Encourages healthy circulation to the uterus
Supports emotional release and reconnection with the womb
I lovingly hand-blend each batch of Organic Shakti Herbal Yoni Steaming Herbs with womb-safe, organic herbs. This blend is designed to bring warmth, flow, and presence back to your sacred center.
šŗ Self-Womb Massage with Shakti Womb Oil
Your womb longs to be touched, loved, and known. Self-womb massage is a grounding ritual that supports circulation, relieves tension, and brings you back into your body.
Using my handcrafted Womb Oil:
Promotes lymphatic flow and hormonal balance
Eases physical and emotional tension
Enhances your connection to your feminine essence
Infused with organic herbs and nourishing oils, this is more than skincareāitās sacred care.
š Nutrition as a Daily Devotion
As a busy mother, Iāve gone through phasesāvegetarian, Ayurvedic, vegan, and now a more grounded, ancestral approach. Through it all, the one constant has been this: when I nourish myself deeply, I see the difference in my cycle. When i was vegan my cycle was light, 2-3 days and pale pink. Now as a busy breast feeding mother if i get slack with taking my daily beef liver capsules i notice a reduction in the quality and quantity of my menstrual flow. Beef liver nourishes the womb and the blood directly giving it the nourishment it needs to thrive. My number one supplement recommendation no mater what phase of life your in is Organic beef liver capsules. Theyāre rich in iron, B vitamins, and fat-soluble nutrients that directly support healthy blood, energy, and hormone balance. When Iām consistent, my bleed reflects it: smooth, rich, and pain-free.
ā[ My most Recommended Here]
š©øRemember the quality of our blood is what nourishes our babies while we are pregnant, this is why i preach conscious conception and sacred menstruation with an optimal menstrual flow before conception, so we can be sure your baby has the optimal start to life. If your menstrual flow isnt optimal i recommend waiting to conceive until your flow is optimal, deep red, medium flow for 3- 4days, free of pain and clots.
š¹ Final Words
Your cycle is a sacred rhythm. Your blood is a guide.ā This is your reminder to listen, nourish, and honour your womb as the wise oracle she is. You donāt have to suffer through your cycle. With the right tools, love, and awareness, you can reclaim it as one of your most powerful sources of self-knowing.
